Software – Land
Available software relating to terrestrial ecology. Click on the links to request/download.
| Countryside Vegetation System (CVS) | Application used for allocating plot samples to the CVS classification. (MS Windows 3.1/95/98) |
| DECORANA/TWINSPAN | Two programs for co-ordinating multivariate species data, classifying samples and species. (DOS) |
| Minitab Macros for resampling | We have created a set of downloadable macros which perform computationally-intensive inference in Minitab for a range of widely used statistical techniques, as well as some more specialist techniques in spatial statistics. (Note: the macros were created for Minitab v.13, and have not yet been tested for compatability with later versions.) |
| Modular Analysis of Vegetation Information System (MAVIS) | A program for expressing different plant assemblages in the same standard classification language. It is an extension of the CVS software (above) and will include extra species and vegetation categorisations. For more information please contact MAVIS at CEH Lancaster, ssma@ceh.ac.uk. (MS Windows 3.1/95/98). |
| TABLEFIT/TABLCORN | Tablefit is a program for the diagnosis of vegetation types, including the classification of vegetation groups according to the National Vegetation Classification.Tablcorn converts TABLEFIT format to Cornell Condensed Format. (DOS) |
| RANGES 6 | A suite of programs for comprehensive display and analysis system for radio-tag data, but is also used for other animal location data and for botanical studies. (DOS). Note that RANGES 6 is not an in-house program - click link for details. |
| WinTWINS | WinTWINS is a program for classifying species and samples, producing an ordered two-way table of their occurrence. The process of classification is hierarchical; samples are successively divided into categories, and species are then divided into categories on the basis of the sample classification. |
