- 2010: The new UK Land Cover Map will be released as part of the Countryside Survey programme carried out by CEH. More details here (external link).
- 19-22 July: CEH will have a stand at the annual Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, which is scheduled this year for 19-22 July.
Recent events
- 29 Jun-1 Jul: CEH had a stand at the joint Defra & Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Risk Management conference in Telford.
- 5 June: Dr Helen Roy spoke about Alien Spotting at the BBC Wild Day Out event at Alexandra Palace in London, part of this year's BBC Springwatch. The event took place on Saturday 5 June, 11am - 5pm at Alexandra Palace Park, Haringey (Muswell Hill Entrance).
- 9th-10th February 2010: The 42nd Robson Meeting took place on 9th and 10th February. The keynote speaker was Baroness Young, talking about "Tomorrow's Challenges". The Robson Meeting is the only major UK event dedicated to developments in aquatic weed control, the biology and ecology of aquatic plants, invasive species and riparian management issues. - 7th December 2009: Side event on Nitrogen at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP-15 in Copenhagen. For more information about Nitrogen and climate change visit the following: Snared in a homemade 'NitroNet' (BBC News Online) and Managing the European Problem.
- October 2009: The Scripps Institute of Oceanography, USA, hosted a conference “Water in a Warming World.” The attendees included experts in hydrological and climate sciences, economics, and public policy. The participants looked at building a lasting scientific community focused on water resources in regional watersheds that are especially hard hit by climate change, including the Western US, north-western China, India, and possibly Africa. UK participants included Centre for Ecology & Hydrology scientist Dr Nick Reynard.
Awards
- 16th October 2009: Environment Centre Wales, the home of CEH's staff in Wales, was commended in the RICS awards Grand Final 2009 in the Sustainability category. Read a CEH news story about the event.
