Environmental managers hear about our latest aquatic plant research 26th February 2007

Last week the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology's aquatic plant management group ran the 38th annual Robson Meeting over two days at the Edinburgh Conference Centre, Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.

Head of CEH's Aquatic Plant management group, Jonathan Newman said "The Robson meeting provides an ideal opportunity for environmental managers to learn about the latest research into practical aspects of aquatic weed control."

Over 80 delegates attended the meeting from organisations as diverse as the Environment Agency, British Waterways, the Broads Authority, County Councils and Internal Drainage Boards.

The speaker list included seven scientists from CEH's Monks Wood, Dorset, Wallingford, Edinburgh and Lancaster sites whose presentation topics included new methods for weed control, assessing lake, river and ditch habitats, understanding plant physiology, and the current status of invasive aquatic plants.
