Top wildlife scientist speaks on the impact of rapid climate change 23rd January 2006
Butterfly scientist Professor Jeremy Thomas, from the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology's research site in Dorset, will be speaking in Oxford tonight (23rd January) within the prestigious Green College lecture series. Professor Thomas will address the impact of rapid climate change on fauna, flora and biological communities.
Professor Thomas is well known in the wildlife world for his recent work on the 6th extinction, as reported in the leading journal Science in 2004 and his long term study of the Large Blue Butterfly, which has led to this endangered species being restored to the British Landscape. The Large Blue story has recently been featured on the BBC and the Discovery Channel.
The lecture is being held in the Witts Lecture Theatre: Radcliffe Infirmary, Woodstock Road, Oxford at 6.00pm, tonight, the 23rd January 2006 and is part of a series of four talks covering the impacts of climate change on the environment, energy policy and health.
