Cynthia DaviesCynthia Davies is an Informatics Liaison Officer offering advice and training to scientists to improve day-to-day working practice in information, data management and CEH’s overall science capabilities. She works within the Acreman section with hydrobiologists, hydrochemists and hydrologists. She ran the Ecology Data Centre for the Lowland Catchment Research Project (LOCAR). This NERC thematic programme undertaking a detailed, interdisciplinary programme of integrated hydro-environmental research relating to groundwater dominated systems. Cynthia was a lead author of the European-wide, parameter-based EUNIS Habitat Classification which forms an integral part of the European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity's European Nature Information System. Cynthia managed the Database and Atlas of Freshwater Fish (DAFF) project producing the first collated national data source on the distribution of freshwater fish in Britain. The project resulted in the publication of 'Freshwater fishes in Britain' in October 2004. Cynthia also acts as a science ambassador representing CEH at various public events. Prior to joining CEH, Cynthia was a freshwater biologist in the water industry, and also a field studies tutor and adult education teacher.
